Hmm…2008…only slightly more palatable than 2007.
A few good highs…but a long, lingering, echoing void…and it ended with a crapfest of epic proportions.
Do I have see anything bright in the year to come? I’m currently reading Team of Rivals — the award winning biography that tells the story of the creation of the Lincoln White House and its administration — so I’ll borrow a quote that Abraham Lincoln himself used (courtesy of Leo Tolstoy) to get through some incredibly dark & sorrowful times in his youth:
“Only people who are capable of loving strongly, can also suffer great sorrow; but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heal them.”
Let’s hope that’s what in store for me and my family in 2009.
