…what took you so long?
You claim you understand the outrage of Canadians suffering with cancer…and relatives & friends with cancer…for the apparent slur you committed by being overheard saying that you believed medical isotope shortages and cancer were SEXY issues…
…you offered your own experience with watching your father die of colon cancer as an example of emapthy…

…but let’s be honest. You represent a government that has no empathy…no real understanding of the issues & concerns of every day people. You exist in a world of adolescent tantrum, sarcasm & rudeness. Illness and hardship aren’t things to be dealt with…cured…fixed…but simply taken advantage of…for the most disgusting political gain imaginable. The Conservative credo of exploitation at its finest…and Ms. Raitt, you have proven yourself to be a worthy disciple of such putrid excrement.
So…you have given your apology at last. After a full day of ignoring the issue and accusing the opposition of playing games…you have shed your tears, you have offered your contrition. But I don’t forgive you.
My father is dead from lung cancer. I watched him die over the course of months…slowly, painfully fading away…taking the three people who loved him the most through hell in the process. Through late night emergency calls…through heartaching hospital visits…through uselss radiation treatments. My mother continues to fight her cancer…and not one moment of this is sexy! Watching my mother and my sister sob over my father’s coffin was NOT sexy. The lack of comptent medical attention was NOT sexy…and an isotope shortage isn’t going to make it any MORE sexy!
Especially for my mother, who continues to fight her cancer. Bad enough that she no longer has her husband by her side…is she also expected to suffer because of the incompetence AND dismissive nature of you and your political master, Ms. Raitt…should she take an unexpected turn for the worse and require nuclear scanning?
I’m sorry Ms. Rait…but your attitude, and that of the government you represent…it simply makes me ill. You embarass me, and you embarass our country to the entire world. You have shed your tears in public and asked Canadians for forgiveness…
…but I don’t HAVE any tears left to shed. Neither do many other people. Don’t expect me to shed any for you, or your pathetic and repugnant excuse for a government.
