(1) PALIN POPPING OFF…TO WHERE?
She’s quitting the governorship after only 2.5 years…for no apparent reason, other than some incoherent statements about making a difference without a title…and not flowing with dead fish!

She may be making an impressive opening gamble to become the Republican Presidential nominee for 2012…at least, that’s what some people think. Once again, her ridiculous, rambling goodbye statement is about as clear as mud…which is surprising, as most Republicans are usually far more clear and straightforward as they spew their right-wing invective.
For example, just read some of this gobbledygook:
“…determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path. Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional lame duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose.”
I’ve scorched dozens of essays over the years for having similiar examples of “reasoned argument”. Still, if nothing else, Palin’s departure will keep Tina Fey busy for years to come…and we all benefit from THAT artistic genius. But there’s one question that remains to be answered: what will Sarah Palin do now that she won’t be able to see Russia from her house? We should probably ask David Letterman’s opinion on the subject… :D
(2) AGREEMENT ON THE MICHAEL BAY FRONT
Someone else who agrees with my assessment of Director Michael Bay’s (COUGH COUGH) artistic skill: Johanna Schneller of The Globe & Mail…
“…Bay’s sequences deliberately disorient. During an oil rig accident on Armageddon, Affleck appears in so many places at once, he’d have to be quintuplets to pull it off in real life. The action scenes in The Rock and Pear Harbour are a continuity nightmare, hidden behind walls of bombs. And though the final battle in Transformers 2 is between two robots entirely made of computer generated imagery, even then, Bay can’t cut it together so that it makes sense.”
“Sadly, Mr. Bay, incoherence is not a style. And what I resent about its spreading is that it’s not, in fact, exciting — it’s actually deeply dull. If you can be anywhere in time and space, nothing matters.”
And with that illuminating sunbeam of light from the heavens, so endeth the lesson. ;-)
