The Polish Adventure 5: Castles & A Final Catch Up

This will be the last post for a few days (for certain this time) as we leave Tarnobrzeg for Jaroslaw tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll have computer access then, but it will take a day or two of travel and re-arranging to set up. In the mean time…here’s a last bit of my mother’s home region for your taste…


(1) BARANOW SANDOMIERSKI

Although the fortifications were dismantled in the 19th century (though the dried up moat remains), the Renaissance-era castle retains its wonderful, stylish magnificence. Built for the Leszczynski family — then owned & added to by the Lubomirskis — it’s considered one of the most beautiful of its type in all of Poland. Italiante-stylings, once again enhanced by Baroque design elements (in what seems to be a running Polish theme).
