Ahh…Paris. What can I say about it that hasn’t already been said?
Well, I could comment on the BLISTERING HEAT WAVE we suffered through, minus air conditioning. It meant that I didn’t sleep a single night of our trip, but it made for some wonderful (if slightly overheated) day time treks.
(1) NOTRE DAME — From the outside…
“Imposing” is a word that doesn’t do justice to this enormous icon of French history.

(2) NOTRE DAME — From the inside…
It was rather dark (almost anti-camera, St. Peter’s dark), but I did manage to snap a few decent shots…

(3) WALKING ALONG THE LEFT BANK
It grew progressively hotter as we walked along the famed left bank of the Sienne…but it offered us wonderful views of the Louvre, the Academie Francaise, and the many famous bridges — both ancient and modern — spanning the river. We ended at the Musee d’Orsay…which, contrary to ALL our guide books, was already closed for the day (GRRR!). That said, the walk was still worth the effort.

(4) ST. MICHEL
The neighbourhood next to the Sorbonne, across the river from Notre Dame. It’s full of lovely shops, alleyways, and the famous English-language bookstore “Shakespeare & Company”.

COMING SOON: PARIS - Day 2…
