The 2010 Trip: PARIS - Day 2

(1) VERSAILLES - Exterior and Gardens

The smell of flowers was intoxicating. The design was spectacular. Classical music played throughout the grounds. It was simply magical. I’m almost relieved it was overcast…it was opressively hot and humid that day. In spite of that, I would have spent the rest of the day exploring the grounds and gardens of this sumptuous palace…

(2) VERSAILLES - Inside the Palace…

Again…my camera (hell, never mind my camera…what about my eyes) couldn’t decide what sights to focus on…so here’s a brief selection of the grandeur that is Versailles. Once again, I could have spent days exploring the interior…

(3) THE HALL OF MIRRORS

A space truly worthy of the history it has hosted, over the course of centuries…whether it be the Revolution, the Franco-Prussian conflict, or the WWI Treaty Conference.

(4) THE EIFFEL TOWER - From the outside…

Does it NEED further explanation?

(5) THE EIFFEL TOWER - Our night time return…

…resulting in an hour long line up in the twilight heat to get to the elevators and make our way up to the summit of the tower. We were rewarded with spectacular views, night light extravaganzas, and bucket loads of happiness. It might be a very “touristy” thing to do in Paris…but being “touristy” doesn’t make it “unworthy”.
